VCC Board Meeting July 11: Programming the Center

The Valley Community Center board met on July 11. We recapped our site visits to four community centers in the metro area, and reflected on key takeaways from meeting with leadership at V3 Sports, St. Paul YMCA - Midway, Shoreview Community Center and Maplewood YMCA.

We are honing in on what facility components our stakeholders and the community feel are important to prioritize. Please feel free to read more about our key findings in our 2023 community feedback survey results here.

Currently, our key priorities are:

1. An aquatics facility with separate lap swimming pool which may also host swimming lessons, and a warm water pool with child-friendly features such as a slide and zero-depth entry, and senior-friendly features such as a hydrotherapy circuit

2. Fitness center with weight lifting and exercise equipment, studios for various classes, pickleball, volleyball and basketball courts

3. Event and meeting space with youth programming, education and enrichment opportunities for the community

4. Child watch and indoor play, so youth will have activity options and caregivers may be supported year-round

We will continue to solicit feedback from our community. Thank you for following along!
